VELLUTINA

VELVET HISTORY AND TYPES
Velvet appeared for the first time during the reigns of ancient Egypt and China, and it was made of pure silk since the latter country was at that time, the world's first producer. Nowadays, in contrast with the past and with other types of fabric, velvet can be made of different materials. In fashion and tailoring, this fabric is a staple in winter collections, since it is extremely soft, provided good thermo-insulating properties and has that glowy, luxurious appearance which makes it ideal for long evening dresses, suits and other garments.
